It has become clear to the author that our psychological and emotional health is a vital component to the healing process. She portrays a 'take charge' attitude as she inspires other cancer patients to overcome the disease. Unlike other books related to surviving the diagnosis, this book reveals how the author learned that there is much more to cancer than sickness, chemo and death. There is much more to death than just a bitter end to physical life.

Although very personal, this memoir will capture the reader's attention as they connect with Bonnie's story and find that many of her experiences may be familiar to their own. The book contains thirteen heartfelt chapters that tell how one woman found enlightenment after surviving a piercing heartache. Then suddenly without warning she was diagnosed with colon cancer. In just eight months she battled cancer, endured the loss of a beloved pet and watched the agonizing death of her father.

Although there are a variety of books related to the subjects mentioned above, there are few that include such a touching personal story of survival. This book provides encouragement to not only those facing a cancer diagnosis, but also surviving the devastation we all face in life. The book is written to encourage readers to look beyond the pain and recognize the unexpected blessings that come to pass as a result of our despair.
